The Story 2010

Page history last edited by Emory 14 years ago

started by Ms. Tate's 4th grade class at Forest Park:

You Will Never Believe What Happened in Art Class Today!

I can feel the floor rumbling underneath my feet! For a moment, I thought that an earthquake had hit my school until I looked outside. The clouds were as grey as an elephant. The wind was blowing so hard that it almost knocked down a tree. "Timmy, pay attention", said Ms. Fish, my art teacher, outraged.

Today was Friday and on Fridays, we had free art! We got to draw whatever we wanted. I chose to draw a tall, green alien with slimy, bumpy skin. His ears were as pointy as a leprechaun and his mouth was as big as an alligator.   I named him Jocko, the friendly alien.

Mrs. Goliszek's 4th grade class - Speas Elementary:

My mouth dropped open when my alien picture turned and winked at me. I wondered what I had created. I looked to Kevin, the student sitting beside me. He was a new student who had just started our school earlier that week. I wanted to see if he had noticed what my drawing had just done.

“Hmmm…,” I thought to myself. “I’ve never noticed what pointy ears Kevin has”.

Before I even had a chance to say a word, Kevin reached over me, grabbed Jocko’s hand, and jerked him out of the picture!

At that instant, the storm exploded outside. Thunder boomed like dynamite and lightning lit up the sky as if Zeus were punishing the world. Out of nowhere, a spaceship could be seen heading straight for our school!

Ms. Steward's 4th grade class - Bolton Elementary:

Suddenly, Ms. Fish's vase of flowers dropped off a shelf. I gasped and quickly looked over the whole room. I saw Jocko tear off a piece of his skin on his upper arm. I felt like I was getting ready to throw up. I saw green, gooey, bumpy slime in his arm before he reached in and pulled out a fat, red, inch-long laser pointer.

"He is the meanest friendliest alien I ever met!" I thought as Jocko pointed his laser at me. I jumped over the desk to try to hide, but the laser scratched me on my arm. It felt like a paper cut.

Immediately Jocko turned to the rest of the class screaming in a threatening voice, "Everyone, draw an alien army or you will become a zombie!"

While everyone else was staring at Jocko, I heard a sound like a zipper near me. It was Kevin pulling off his skin and reaching into the gooey jelly inside his arm! As soon as I saw that, I screamed like a girl and shook in fear!

Mrs. Strobel's 3rd and 4th Graders--Old Town Global Academy

Kevin shook his hands and some green, gooey, bumpy slime landed on Mrs. Fish. She ran out of the room screaming trying to get the gooey slime off. All  the students were so busy watching Kevin unzip and Ms. Fish running out of the room that they weren't drawing and Jocko was getting really irritated.

While Jocko was scolding the class to get drawing, he noticed my  arm was turning green and bumpy like alligator skin. Jocko realized Timmy was turning into an alien and was happy as a kid with no homework. So Jocko started doing the Hokey Pokey all around the room, and he demanded all the kids join in. So we all started dancing. (That was better than drawing an alien army!) Finally, Sam, the winner of our school dance contest, took the lead. He taught Jocko how to do the moonwalk, and Sam led Jocko and the class outside to the playground doing the moonwalk.

The principal looked out her office window. Boy! Was she ever surprised.

Mrs. Dykes' 4th Grade - Whitaker Elementary

She saw our entire class moonwalking to the playground, and right next to the jungle gym sat a metallic spaceship three times the size of an elephant!  A band of green and white lights blinking around the spaceship caused the principal to drop her coffee cup, and it shattered into a million pieces.  Breathing heavily, her heart pounding, and her mind racing, she reached for her phone with a sweaty, trembling hand.  She started dialing, 9-1-1, but the excitement was just too much for her, and she fainted right there in her office!  We would get no help from her.

Meanwhile, back on the playground, we continued with our rhythmic dance.  Boom!  Bang!  Crack!  We whipped around and couldn’t believe our eyes!  It was the first time we saw the spaceship. We all wanted to scream and run, but a strange feeling came over us, and for some reason we weren’t scared.  The flashing lights had us hypnotized!  Our arms hung at our sides like limp, wet noodles.  Our eyes rolled back into our heads, and our mouths fell open so that we looked like a school of large mouth bass.

“Get on the ship!” Jocko said, with a sinister laugh.

We marched helplessly like marionettes up a glowing green ramp.  Once inside of the alien craft, all we could do now was watch the door slowly close and the daylight disappear.  We wondered if we would ever see our beloved school again.  Jocko just danced around us mockingly, and he chanted, in a taunting sing-song voice, “My plan is working, my plan is working.”

At first I thought this was a dream because it was the opposite of what I expected!  You would think there would be computers, a trillion buttons, and all sorts of technology, but no. There was a multi-colored flashing dance floor, graffiti on the wall, and even an alien rapping with golden chains and baggy clothes!  I suddenly noticed what time it was: 2:24 AM!  We must have been hypnotized for hours, although it seemed like minutes.  I noticed that everyone else was still hypnotized.  I also noticed that we were hanging from the ceiling by our arms!  Could this get any stranger?

Everyone (besides the aliens and me) on the ship was asleep so I attempted to break free of the chains.  Like Houdini performing a magic trick, I contorted my body so I could easily slip out of the chains.  Apparently, the aliens were used to capturing bigger people, because the chains were slightly larger than my wrists.  I edged my way around the music-distracted aliens and headed out of the room.

Just then I heard an alien saying, “They might help us take over the world.”  Suddenly, a hologram sprouted from my watch like a plant growing in soil.  The hologram was a seven feet tall space creature with lime-green skin, dressed in an emerald-colored cloak.

The creature said, ”Hello Earthling.  Message from my master.  You have six hours to find the antidote, Nagrom, which will stop you from becoming an alien.  Good luck Earthling.”  The hologram cackled like fireworks and disappeared like butter in a hot frying pan. I shuffled my feet some and heard crinkling paper. I looked down and spotted a map of outer space. I saw a planet called Nagromini. This would be a perfect place to find the antidote; it shared the same name plus ‘ini’. I looked around for a space suit and found a punked-out one with multi colored graffiti on a shiny gold background. PERFECT! I discovered a large purple button that read LAUNCH. BEEP!  I pressed it with one thought; am I going to end up on the right planet? A robotic voice that said “Launching in 3…2 BYE!”  WHOOSH! I was shooting through the roof into outer space!

I could not believe my eyes, I was flying through space on my own space craft.  I was flying so fast that I felt like jello.   All of a sudden, I crashed and landed on a different planet called Gartun.  As I inched along, I saw a dark shaped creature creeping toward me.  It was tall, purple, and had 8 legs with gills.  My heart was pounding. Will this creature try to capture me?  I have to get to the antidote.  I tried to run away, but it caught me and said, "Will you be my friend?"  I hesitated for a moment and then I thought wow!!  He might help me find the antidote.  I nodded at the creature and said, "DEAL".  The creature said, "Just so you know, my name is Zoofwexx."   They zoomed out into space on my space craft that Zoofwexx repaired.  We were on our way.

We went as fast as lightening, and all of a sudden, we landed abruptly on another planet, Goofa.  When we got out of our ship, there was a moment of silence.  I said to my new alien friend, "Is this Nagromini?"  He screamed, Nagromini?-that is the planet of savage beasts.  The planet is full of gormiteans which are alien dragons that breathe fire and have tentacles.

Whoa!!!  I looked at my watch, and I only had three hours left to find the planet Nagromini and locate the antidote.  We met another alien from Goofa named Gixie.  We asked her if she knew about Nagromini and an atidote that would cure me from turning into an alien forever.  She told us of a volcano on Nagromini that had some type of antidote.

Timmy ran to the first spaceship he could find.  "It's not the newest spaceship but it sure is AWESOME!" Timmy said excitedly.  It was painted with flames and stripes.   It even had a TV and auto-pilot.  As Timmy traveled through space to find Nagromini he discovered something odd up in the distance.  Before he knew it, the spaceship was being sucked into a swirling black hole.  The spaceship was being thrown around with Timmy inside.  Timmy felt queasy.   He was being tossed around like he was in a bumper car.  BOOM!  Timmy glanced out the window and saw another spaceship. "Is that Jocko with a dragon?" wondered Timmy.  Before he could get a good look out the window, the spaceship began to spiral again.  This time it felt like the ship was dropping.  "I'm going to breakdown," said Timmy.  The space ship was forced out of the dark hole and began decreasing at a fast pace.  It landed roughly on a new planet. "NAGROMINI, I made it," Timmy chanted.

Timmy stumbled out of the space ship. His arm was slowly getting slimier and hairier by the second.  He spotted the volcano in the distance and began to sprint towards it.  He knew he must find the violet red lava rock with the antidote.  Gixie said it was small and shiny.  As he reached the volcano, he began to climb.  Half way up the volcano, Timmy realized he was being followed. Ginormous four eyed boulders began to chase him. Timmy avoided the boulders as they crashed towards him. Luckily, the boulders missed him and tumbled off the volcano. All of a sudden, a shimmering light caught his eye. Timmy spotted the gleaming rock. "Finally!" he shouted.  As Timmy ascended to the final step of his tragic journey, he extended his arm out to grab the rock. Suddenly, a dark figure covers him. "Oh no," Timmy shouted as a monstrous tentacle culls around the rock and flies away. "Jocko will be happy I stole the antidote," the dragon roared.

GREAT! Now I must find Jocko and I only have two hours left.

As the dragon flew further and further away in the distance, Timmy could feel his face turning red with anger.  He sprinted down the volcano to his spaceship.  A gap like a zipper suddenly began growing up his spine, and Timmy knew time was running out.

Dashing into the spacecraft and starting the engine, he glanced to the dials on the control panel and discovered a dragon radar.  The radar bleeped a dragon ahead, as Timmy spotted the beast clutching the shiny rock.  He then noticed a snowflake-covered joy stick to his right on the control panel.  Timmy aimed at the dragon's wing and squeezed the trigger.  An ice ray froze the dragon's wing, sending him to the planet's surface.  Luckily, he landed in the purple ocean and bobbed to the top of the water.  Timmy hovered his space ship over the dragon and pointed the ice ray again as he announced, "Give me the rock, and take me to Jocko or be frozen in this sea forever!"  Opening one eye, the dragon whined, "Jocko is on the other side of the planet.  Take the stinky rock and leave!"  The dragon then threw the antidote into an open window of  the spaceship.

Wondering how to make the antidote while saving his classmates in the other spaceship, Timmy directed the ship to the dark side of the planet as he realized only thirty minutes remained of his six hours.

Panic-stricken, Timmy realized he needed to know how to make the antidote, and fast! His fingers danced across the surface of the colorful buttons. He felt the bump of one strange button and heard a sizzle and a pop as he pushed it.  A secret door opened and out crawled four tiny aliens with suits on that said, "Auto Pilot". Three of them wore green and one sported an important looking red one. He noticed a tag sticking out of one suit that said. "Made in Glutzar."

"These guys can help me." thought Timmy.

"Earthling Master, where are we headed?" squealed the red-suited one. Timmy noticed his skin was green and bumpy like a toad.

Feeling like a captain, Timmy declared, "We're headed to the dark side of Nagromini... to Jocko's cave!"

All at once the tiny, green, bumpy creatures gasped at the place Timmy asked them to bring him. In unison, the creatures let out a blood curdling scream that faded into a yelp, "NOOOOOO!"

That's when Timmy realized he had only 13 desperate minutes left of what seemed like an impossible mission to save his friends.

Mrs. Higgins' Fourth Grade Class

Timmy promised the Auto-Pilot aliens that he would protect them from evil, so they agreed to go with him.  They all headed towards the dark side of the planet Nagromini.  Once they spotted Jocko’s cave, they landed the flame-covered space ship and headed towards the cave.  Timmy and the Auto Pilot aliens devised a plan to distract Jocko and his creepy army of creatures.

The Auto Pilot aliens started doing crazy kung fu moves at Jocko.  The aliens were distracting Jocko so he could rescue his friends because they were hypnotized. Timmy got onto the spaceship and was desperately trying help his friends who were still hanging from the ceiling. He realized that he needed to break the red rock and he tried and tried, but it just wouldn’t break. Panicking with only two minutes left, he was franticly smashing the rock against the control panel when suddenly, every thing went dead silent.  Timmy looked out the window and saw the auto pilot aliens in the air, frozen in  kung fu moves near Jocko.

Timmy turned to the control panel and saw that he accidently pressed the freeze time button while he was trying to break the red rock. With all the time in the world, he decided to look around the space ship for something to break open the red rock to get the precious antidote.  “How in the world will I crack this rock open to save my friends and myself?”, Timmy thought as he was searching around the ship.

Just as he was losing hope, he peered out the window and something sparkly hanging from Jocko’s belt loop caught his eye.  Dangling from his belt loop was a golden key ring.  Timmy decided to run outside to get a better look.  Once Timmy got closer to Jocko, he noticed that there was a fire red key hanging from the golden key ring.  Timmy noticed that the key had a human face on it.  “Could this be the key to the antidote to keep us human?” Timmy said to himself.  Feeling victorious, Timmy grabbed the key off of Jocko and ran into the space ship to save his friends.   Timmy ran in the space ship with the key and picked up the red rock.  He searched the rock for a key hole and found one on the bottom.  Timmy quickly pushed the key into the hole and turned it.  The rock opened and revealed a cherry colored liquid.   Timmy ran to his friends dangling from the ceiling and poured the liquid in their mouths.  Timmy also took one big gulp of the cherry antidote. As he swallowed his, he ran over to the FREEZE button and hit it, hoping this would unfreeze time.  Luckily, Timmy was right and the button reversed time being frozen.  All of his friends were no longer hypnotized and screamed “Help Us!” at Timmy.  Timmy yelled at them, “I am helping you!  You have already taken the antidote while time was frozen!”.  Timmy headed over to the pilot station and began looking for a way to start the space ship to head back to Earth.

Hours later they finally arrived back safe and sound to their school.  Ms. Fish was still in the art room, freaking out.  Timmy and his friends ran into the art room to explain what had happened- but Ms. Fish didn’t believe them.  “Why do all of you look so wrinkly and Timmy, you have gray hair!”, Ms. Fish asked the students.  “What do you mean?” the students moaned.  They all started looking around the room and saw what Ms. Fish was wondering about.  Timmy was no longer 10 years old, but was 90 years old!  Sam was no longer a moonwalker, he was USING a walker!  Some of the girls were knitting at their seats.  What Timmy and the  students did not know that freezing time on Nagromini would speed up time for the students on Earth!

Awesome ending! I can't wait to read this to my class. They will realize why we couldn't add all the action they wanted to. You did a great job tying it all together to make a sensible conclusion. Well done!

Thank you! We really had a good time writing the ending. It was tough, but I think it all turned out great! :)
